Extensometers

If a measurement of traverse movements is insufficient even with given compensation of minor machine deformations, adaptable strain transducers, customarily named extensometers, are necessary to be placed directly at the specimen or between grip heads or compression plates.

With mechanical extensometers we distinguish between:

  • Clamp-on extensometers for small strains
  • Longitudinal extensometers on separate stands
  • Semi- and fully-automatic extensometers with one or two measuring ranges
  • Optical video extensometers for wide range of applications, even robotised applications
